This job was a for a client with a challenging issue, but one that we see quite often at Legacy Flat Roofing. There was a flat roof surface which was part of a deck that needed to be replaced or repaired due to it being very old, past it’s lifecycle, and not being a watertight membrane.
The challenge was that there were several posts connected into the roof that were part of a railing. To save money for the client we recommended that we repair the roof, not replace the roof, so we had to work around those posts but still ensure a seal that would not be compromised during bad weather. There was also a brick section to the side of the roof that needed repairing, as well as the metal drip flashing which was quite old.
We cleaned up the roof, removed any rubble and dirt, pulled off the metal edging and put down sopaboard and a new cap sheet. Once that was done we replaced the metal flashing with new flashing, so that it would give a good seal, and have a great look for the roof both from the deck and the ground looking up.
We applied a polyurethane compound to the rails and the brick editing, as it’s pliable but a very strong sealant.
And once again we have a water tight, high quality flat roof for a fraction of what it could have cost replacing the whole roof.
